Friends are Truly Valuable
A long time ago, I learned a little poem in Girl Scouts:
“Make new friends, keep the old.
One is silver, the other is gold.”
In different stages of life, we are faced with leaving or losing old friends. However, according to some articles I have read lately on longevity and happiness, this can also be an opportunity to make new friends who are potential life savers. Even casual greetings and comments can contribute to keeping the human psyche functioning and optimistic. You never know when you can make someone’s day with a cheerful “Hello” and “How are you?” Friends, old and new, enrich our lives.
